With the last day of August upon us, we are still as busy as ever. Preparing for another bronze shoot, education gearing up again ready for the start of another academic year, Caterpillar and their 25th anniversary of the Backhoe Loader, preparations for the Studio Open Day on the 30th are well under way plus lots more. Fingers crossed the sun stays with us. An Indian summer would be perfect to get happy faces onto the cameras. Remember - Corporate video has changed.

Production team are working hard on the 25th Anniversary promotional video for Caterpillar. All machines glistening in the lights give you the feel like you are at a Hollywood premier.

The Orange Innovation Award

Affixxius Productions may not have made the finals for The Orange Innovation Award but my word, were we close. Only dropping 52 points out of a total 650, we hit targets on 4 out of the 7 subjects. Pretty impressive as we are only a small fully in-house video production and graphic design studio, although we are growing rapidly in staff and projects. We will enter again next year and who knows, we could be in the finals. Fingers crossed.

We are now into day 2 of the decorating and things are going well. Miles has a new office (well it’s a store cupboard actually, but he likes it as there is only room for one and no light or power!) The new room is transformed into a bright and inviting meeting/photography/anything else it’s needed for room and the carpet goes down on Friday.

Affixxius welcomes another member of the team

Chas Wren has now joined Affixxius Productions as a Junior Editor. In his previous role he was a graphic designer but has always been a video editor at heart. “It is something I have always wanted to do” says Chas, “and when i got the opportunity to work at Affixxius Productions, I was full of excitement”.

He has already been out on a number of shoots and is now enjoying the hours of editing that go with it.

Sales Executive required

Affixxius Productions is looking for a Sales Executive (with pathway to Sales Manager) to help continue our rapid current expansion. The candidate must be highly motivated and driven, with strong relationship-building and communication skills. Experience in Sales within the Creative Arts (and preferably video) Sector would be preferable but is not essential.

The candidate must be prepared to travel the UK and Europe and have the confidence to forge relationships from ‘cold’ as well as work on existing contacts. The individual would also need to be skilled and responsible for developing and account managing their own clients. Affixxius Productions has a strong reputation for friendliness and passion, and a key motivator behind our appointment decision will be the candidate’s ‘fit’ within our culture.

The role will be measured on targeted sales performance and the candidate will be expected to have a good understanding of the implementation and monitoring of KPIs.

Production Specialist required

Affixxius Productions is looking for a Production Specialist to join our rapidly-growing team. It would be preferable for the candidate to be experienced in the use of Sony Z1E and Sony XDCAM equipment and have good knowledge of location lighting and sound recording. Affixxius Productions deals primarily within the Corporate and Education sectors and therefore any experience within this would be hugely beneficial.

The candidate must be prepared to travel around the UK and Europe, regularly involving overnight stays, and have an up to date passport and a full clean UK driving license. Affixxius Productions is based in the Midlands, just outside Loughborough, and has no intention to move from this locality for the foreseeable future.

Starting salary is £18,000 per annum, to be reviewed regularly. When away on shoot all travel, accommodation and sustenance costs will be covered by the company.

‘Put Some Colour In Your Cricket’ Campaign

On Friday I attended the ‘Put Some Colour in your Cricket’ marketing campaign press launch. For those of you who have been living in a hole and don’t know Affixxius created this, here’s the background.

Basically, we were asked by Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club to create a marketing campaign around their Twenty20 season, which will hopefully increase attendance. The primary objective for them was to also have a video that could play on their ginormous screen on the game nights to pump the crowd up. Therefore, we came up with a number of concepts and eventually committed to ‘Put Some Colour in your Cricket’. I think its fairly obvious that Twenty20 is a very colourful part of the game, so we created something that was viusally exciting and that would transfer to print also.

We were very fortunate to get the shoot covered by Sky Sports and East Midlands Today and on Friday, they came along again to witness the final piece on the big screen at the Broadway Cinema in Nottingham. It was an awesome event to attend which also had Stuart Broad, Dirk Nannes, Chris Reid and of course Samit Patel there to speak to the media and back the campign. Another key part of this project was the production of advertising posters, billboards, bus posters, postcards and bookmarks. The graphic design arm of Affixxius Productions has steadily been growing for a number of years now and this county wide advertising campaign was a great opportunity for us to stretch our muscles and really show off. I have to admit, the designs look amazing and Garry (our designer) did a fantastic job!

So just remember, Affixxius Productions put the colour in the cricket.
